Volunteer Opportunities
Building Maintenance- Participants help with maintenance projects in and around The Dream Center and The Dream Center Resale Stores. A quality finished project is our desire, therefore we must use volunteers who understand general trades including demolition, general carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting and landscaping.
Child Supervision- Take care of children so that parents/guardians can attend hour-long classes at The Dream Center. Must have a background check and interview completed through our office, and must be at least 17 years old, unless accompanied by an adult.
Intake Volunteer- The intake volunteer is the first official point of contact with our clients. Using a Dream Center questionnaire, volunteers interview the client in order to determine their situation, guide them in prioritizing their needs, and develop an assistance plan. The Dream Center provides training, and the necessary resources for developing an assistance plan.
Opportunity Village:
Activity Calendar - We are looking for volunteers to plan and chaperone activities for our OV Residents such as hikes, special meals, concerts or community events during the evenings and/or weekends.
Financial Coach - Volunteers are needed to meet with residents on a regular basis to help them learn monthly budgeting techniques, how to stay on a budget and how to meet financial goals while they are enrolled in the program. Encouragement is a vital component of this volunteer opportunity. Training is provided.
Resale Stores: Easley, Greenville, Pickens, & Seneca - Assist with sorting and processing donations, get them ready to place in the store, placing merchandise on the floor, and assisting and relating to both customers and donors.
Santa Shoppe- Seasonal (September - January) volunteers needed to assist with all areas of this ministry. Opportunities include creating annual toy lists, sorting and organizing socks and underwear, processing donations of new toys, filling stockings with donated items, filling shopping rooms with toy donations prior to shopping days (Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri), assisting with running the Santa Shoppe on shopping days (Tu, Thu & Sat), organizing and packing away all leftover items for use the next year.
Spanish Speaking- We are in need of volunteers who could communicate effectively with our Spanish speaking clients during Santa Shoppe, and who are able to teach classes in Spanish.
Teach a Class- Most of our classes are taught by volunteers. These classes are one hour in length, and are offered Monday through Thursday, with occasionally offerings in the evening. Class topics have included parenting skills, finance and budgeting, anger management, Bible study, couponing, crafting, gardening, basic exercise/ yoga, journaling, coping with grief/depression, setting goals, boundaries, etc.
